Was running when removed from it's previous owner's home. Very good condition, no damage or repairs only minor nicks to a few edges and a few minor scratches around the base. Both are 7-1/2 inches deep beautifully proportioned. The clock stands a little over 6 feet tall with the base and bonnet being 13 inches wide. The bonnet slides off from the front for easy access to the movement. The face has three keyholes for winding the mechanisms one for the movement, two for the pair of chimes (1/4, 1/2 and hour chimes). The dial is metal with Roman numerals, two fancy hands and colorful floral decorations in all four corners. The bonnet has a nicely scrolled arch and rosettes topped with a simple brass finial. Very clean, uncluttered classic form case of highly grained solid Mahogany. The pendulum is a simple stick-style with weighted brass cylinder. Very few Stennes clocks were made in prison C. This is one of the clocks by Elmer Stennes made in 1972 during his incarceration at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution Plymouth. Stennes is very well known for his high-quality clocks with hand-crafted cases and also quite famous for events in his personal life including killing his wife, going to prison and being murdered himself.
